Leads the province of Yunnan, which along with Guangxi is another “gateway” between China and Southeast Asia as well as a major tourism hub. An alternate member of the 20th Central Committee. Also has experience developing Fujian’s tourism industry.

Born in 1973 in Fujian. Studied biology at Fujian Normal University and then attended the Fujian Provincial Party School. Spent much of his career in Fujian, including in Fuding City (home to Taimu Mountain) and in Nanping City, and also spent two years leading the province’s tourism promotion company. In 2020, after spending his entire career in his home province, he was sent to Yunnan to serve as Vice Governor; likely to make use of his experience developing Fujian’s tourism industry in Yunnan. Under his watch, Kunming successfully built a high-speed railway to Laos, and it has benefited from a boom in domestic tourism as a gateway to Yunnan’s famous landscapes.
Biography
Can be compared to Xi Jinping, who was the governor of Fujian for three years and also served as vice-mayor of Xiamen in Fujian at the beginning of his political career. Could also be compared to Hu Jintao, who led Tibet, the province next to Yunnan and another area with famed natural beauty.
