Titles Held

Born in 1971 in Ningxia. Graduated from the China Agricultural University with a bachelor’s in rural finance and agronomy, as well as a Master’s in management science and engineering and a PhD in management from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Subsequently, he became a high-ranking leader of the Agricultural Bank of China, which is China’s second-largest bank by revenues, before he was promoted to a higher role as the Vice President and Party Committee Member of the Bank of China (the fourth-largest bank by revenues). Entered politics in 2018 as the Vice Governor of Shandong, where he has remained ever since. Currently leads Jinan, the capital of Shandong and one of the top 20 largest cities of China economically albeit smaller in GDP terms than neighboring Qingdao.

Biography

Similar to Yin Yong, Guo Ningning, and Huang Zhiqiang, who are fellow 1970s generation official who have both regional leadership and commercial banking/central bank experience. Can also be compared to Li Keqiang, who earned a PhD in economics from Peking University, as well as Liu He, who is also an economist by training from the Renmin University of China.
